12 Days of Christmas: Day 3 – Crystal Bowman
I am excited to be part of the WELL Writers’ Conference in April. I will be leading a session on writing devotional books for children. The reason I chose this topic is that it’s getting more difficult for children’s writers to get published. With an over abundance of picture books and board books, writing devotions is a genre that is always open with Christian publishers.
If this interests you, then you need to know the details and guidelines for writing in this genre. I will talk about the different ages to write for and how to make your devotional age appropriate. We will cover the specific elements that make your devotions kid-friendly, contemporary, yet biblical. What Bible translations should you use? What is the word count for each devotion? How many devotions need to be included in a book? Do you need to include a prayer? These questions and more will be answered in this session. I can’t wait to meet you and share about this wonderful genre that has eternal value.
