Cynthia Beach is a longtime creative writing professor and writer who studied creativity under Dr. Eric Maisel and spiritual direction. She authored the upcoming IVP novel, The Surface of Water (2024) and writing book, Creative Juices for Writers, second edition, which explores process, creative soul care, and story craft. Her contributions appear in newspapers, literary journals, and books like Hope in the Mourning Bible (Zondervan) and Media Ethics (Longman). She is a frequent reviewer for The Banner. She has a journalism masters from Wheaton College and a masters of fine arts from the Northwest Institute of the Literary Arts. She cofounded the two-day Breathe Christian Writers Conference (2006-2021) and, more recently, Scriptoria Workshop with Newbery-winner Gary Schmidt.
