The Creative Creator

By Jim Chapin

Did you know that God is the first creative? Yes, He is the creator. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

He is also the first artist. His canvas is the universe in the physical realm, but He also designed all the other realms as well.

Did you know that He is a speaker? When He speaks, His words are accompanied by power. He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God always says what He means, He speaks only truth, and His words always complete the assignment. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So also will be the word that I speak; it does not return to me unfulfilled. My word performs my purpose and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish.”

God is an author. He wrote your story. There are books in heaven written about you. Psalms 139:16 says, “You saw who You created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days You planned for me were already recorded in Your book.”

Be encouraged that God has placed you on a creative journey. Ephesians 5:1 says, “Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as His beloved sons and daughters.” The creativity that is in you has been designed for a purpose, and no one can do it like you do. Your uniqueness and drive bring out God’s creativity in you. This world needs what you have been created to be.

As springtime comes, so does the creativity of God’s handiwork. It points to God doing something new, things are coming to life. You are to take advantage of the fruitfulness of this season, imitate the original Creative, and let the creative juices flow and pour out through your life.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful and appropriate….” His favor is on you in this moment, and there are pictures to be drawn and painted, words to be spoken, and books to be written. Do not allow any obstacle to hinder the beautiful expression of creativity that is in you.
