Over three decades ago, I slowly hid my heart and buried my creative craft of writing. I was told, “You cannot write. Write differently. You write too detailed.” And when I did write, it was criticized and stripped down.
I faced a war. I loved to write, but I learned to hate writing.
Yet, I had some writing obligations to complete. I was a teacher. For goodness’ sake, would a parent come to my classroom and tell me, “You cannot write.”?
Yet, years prior to this beating down of my writing, I had won the creative writing award in my senior year in High School.
So who was telling me the truth?
And now fast forward to today …
My first published writing was selected from over 40 participants for the first chapter in a coaching book, Live Big, by Dr. Katie Brazelton in 2010.
Then I co-authored a book with two other coaches called Submersed in the Secret Sorrow of Infertility.
Next, I wrote an article for “Just Between Us” magazine called Grow JOY!
Then I wrote a chapter for The Transformation Project book, a Word Weaver’s Anthology
Next, I wrote a chapter for another Christmas Book for Word Weaver’s.
And then I wrote four books of 31-day life-changing coaching devotionals, Enable Me, Lord, to Shift; Are you stuck in idle? Learn how to shift into the Truth and live.
And as I write this blog post, I have two books waiting to be published in 2025:
Leading You Through the Valley: A Personalized Grief-Loss Coaching Book.
And book five to the Enable Me, Lord, to Shift devotionals.
So, how did I do this? How have I moved from believing I cannot write to becoming the author of five published books and two more in the line-up?
First, I want you to know, HE is the way. GOD is over all and heals us, if we allow Him access. He gets the BIG praise.
Yet, we humans have to take action if we want to live by faith and become all we are meant to be. After all, that is what I coach women toward. I will be glad to share and teach you the process I have used to resurrect my buried creativity.
