“Serving at the Well is one of those rare experiences that fills you up even as you pour out,” said first-time volunteer Patti Schultz. “There is something that happens in that space that I genuinely carry with me long after the conference ends.” While we each have our own reasons for coming to the Well Conference, Patti’s example shows that volunteering can benefit you in ways you didn’t even know you needed.
As the Well’s volunteer coordinator, I enjoy helping Christian creatives find a place to use their gifts and skills to serve other attendees. It warmed my heart to read Patti’s message about her experience, and she isn’t alone. Several other volunteers also reached out to tell me what a pleasure it was to help. Read on to learn more about this opportunity and how you can get involved.
My Story
When I first attended the Well, I was nervous about being around so many people I didn’t know and having conversations with strangers. But I decided to also sign up to volunteer. This gave me built-in interactions and reasons to chat with a variety of creatives. That helped ease me into dialogue. I ended up making some wonderful connections.
In 2025, several volunteers on my team (including Patti) were new to the Well. I could sense some uneasiness along with their excitement as we talked and emailed about the chances to serve. When these creatives checked in, I was at the registration table to introduce myself, so they had a familiar contact right off the bat. Whenever I saw them during the conference, they were smiling and engaged. One thanked me after the conference for encouraging her to volunteer.
Why It Matters
While volunteering can help you enhance your conference experience, it is also extremely important to keep the conference running smoothly. Without volunteers, meals wouldn’t get served efficiently, the bookstore couldn’t be open as often, and people might get lost in the halls. Volunteers are also crucial for setting up the conference, including the bookstore, and putting together the attendee gift bags. And many hands make light work when it comes time to clean up at the end.
Volunteers are essential to the event’s success, but service is also important because it’s a way we follow in Jesus’s footsteps. I know that many Christian creatives also have amazing hearts to serve those around them with their gifts and talents. Helping at the conference is another way to live that out.
How You Can Help
If you have any interest in volunteering at the Well this year, please fill out the form on the website: https://seeyouatthewell.net/conference/. (You’ll have to scroll far down the page!) Or if you haven’t registered yet, you’ll be prompted to fill out the volunteer form as you go through the registration process.
If you have questions or want to contact me directly about serving, you can email me at meganatthewell@gmail.com.
Available Tasks
Once I receive your information, I’ll connect with you to see what volunteer roles you might be most interested in. We need volunteers to:
- Set up
- Stuff the attendee bags
- Help with registration
- Run the bookstore
- Monitor the halls between sessions
- Serve meals
- Tear down and clean up after the event
Meal service is one of the biggest needs, so most volunteers will probably help with at least one meal.
A week or two before the conference, I will send out a volunteer schedule. Everyone will know what tasks they are assigned to and when. My goal is not ask anyone to miss more than one session with their volunteer tasks.
Thank You Gift
But if you do miss anything you really wanted to hear, we’ve got you covered as well. As a thank you for their service, all attendees who volunteer will receive a full set of conference recordings after the event. (This gives you access to all the sessions from every track, more than you could possibly hear live!) Plus, these helpers will get a free copy of a devotional written by conference director Victoria Chapin and founder Kathy Bruins.
If you can’t attend the conference this year, but you are available to serve in the bookstore or help with meals during the event, please fill out the volunteer form or email me. Any non-attendee volunteers will receive a coupon code for the 2027 conference as a token of our appreciation.
See You at the Well!
The Well Conference is an amazing time of encouragement, connection, and growth happening April 30–May 2. I know every attendee will be so glad they came. If you want to take your experience to the next level, please consider volunteering.
Patti also shared, “Being even a small part of what God does there is a privilege I do not take lightly.” Don’t miss out on your opportunity to participate more fully in blessing other Christian creatives.
